The Company:
A leading utilities organisation.


Duties:
As the Business Reporting Analyst, you will play provides 'ad-hoc' reporting services to the Project Development group and its customers. You will develop a subject matter expertise in the understanding of the underlying data structures for a range of systems used to manage Portfolio information for the business's investment portfolio. You will be responsible for the following:

  • Create Ad-hoc reports of high quality from corporate information on an as needed basis (Using a range of methods such as SQL, SSRS, Excel services, pivot tables, to source information from corporate data stores and systems in addition to manual collation of corporate information)
  • Collate information into a consumable report / presentation format for the group and customers
  • Identify commonalities in Ad-Hoc requirement to feed into the report development pipeline to be built as new corporate reports
  • Provide recommendations and advice on industry best practice portfolio reporting to feed into the pipeline of report development to be built as new corporate reports
  • Identify data discrepancies through the ad-hoc reporting process whilst designing, managing and implementing 'clean ups' of breaches of data quality to ensure integrity is achieved
  • Work with the Portfolio Systems team and other service provider areas to correct data discrepancies in the source systems prior to final release of reports
  • Proactively design and undertake audits, reviews and assessments of project data to ensure that:
    • Compliance with relevant system policies, processes and procedures is being achieved
    • Users are correctly applying business rules when processing transactions
    • The solution is being operated and maintained in an effective, appropriate, and sustainable manner to realise maximum benefit for the business

Essential Experience and Skills Required:

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a Data Analyst / Reporting Analyst capacity, including:
    • Experience presenting corporate reporting information using a range of presentation methods suitable for the consumption of senior management and Executive / Board level stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated experience in the day to day management of systems data for reporting purposes - preferably ERP (such as Ellipse), SharePoint, Microsoft PPM Server, Other Project Management Packages
    • Deep understanding in financial modelling Experience managing data for reporting of financial and milestone information
    • Ability to triage and manage data integrity issues from identification through to testing and resolution
  • Tertiary qualifications at degree level in Business, Systems, Business Intelligence, Software Engineering or in a related discipline; or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work pragmatically with a structured (yet flexible) approach to solve problems and find outcomes that truly provide value to the organisation
  • Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, macro development, VB, data warehouse mining using pivots etc.) and Office Suite skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and manage a range of stakeholder relationships as a business representative to define and document reporting requirements using a range of techniques and tools
