Job Description

A large Government department is urgently seeking an experienced Senior Systems and Network engineer to join them on a long term 9 Month contract based in Parramatta

The primary purpose of the role is for the delivery of networking project activities ensuring optimal deployment of state-wide network infrastructure and supported applications and projects, provide 3rd Line operational support and management of infrastructure services.

Key accountabilities

  • Effectively manage internal and external customers to ensure continuous effective service delivery and a performance based, innovative, responsive and accountable customer focused work culture
  • Acting as a point of escalation for operational issues to ensure the eHealth Network Infrastructure Services are available, reliable, secure and are performing at optimal level
  • Assist in the implementation of best practices by sharing knowledge and providing expert advice to first and second level support teams
  • Proactively developing effective working relationships with users and senior management of the eHealth NSW, LHD's and other Health entities to develop and maintain collaborative and open communications during project deployment
  • Ensure SWSD tickets (incidents, problems, requests, and changes) are resolved within the SLA defined timeframes
  • Provide advice and knowledge to participate in the development, implementation and promotion of new initiatives, including the capability to plan, manage change and improve the performance of the Network Engineering and Support teams handling of all service requests, Change orders, incidents and problems

Selection Criteria

  • Proven effectiveness in a high performing team environment, developing and coaching of junior staff, whilst always fostering a performance based and customer focused work culture
  • Superior organisational skills and experience working in a high volume and demanding professional environment with a capacity to prioritise, multi-task, achieve business goals, perform and always work with a customer focused approach
  • Well-developed analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret complex information from numerous sources, prepare and present analysis and reports, deal with challenges creatively and achieve business focused solutions
  • Proven engagement, collaboration and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to build, maintain and use relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Proven capacity to contribute to and promote strategic initiatives, including the capability to plan, manage change, improve performance and project manage complex ICT projects  Willingness and ability to participate in a 24/7 support roster

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in infrastructure equipment project deployment and support in a large and complex/diverse service industry organisation, including relevant qualifications (CCIE/ CCNP - Wireless/ R&S/ DC/ SP) or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated advance knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, Wireless, Routing protocols, Switching technologies, Network Security, VPN technologies and data transmission security to support large-scale multi-tenancy environment
