Job Description

We are currently seeking a Service Designer to join a Large Federal Government Department. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team of business analysts, service designers and policy writers, analysing the business by balancing user and business perspectives for the Program. This work is critical to the overall success of the Program and will support and influence key outcomes for the Department. The Service Designer will be expected to develop a firm understanding of the holistic business current state and desired outcomes, working with Subject Matter Experts for domain expertise.

Key position responsibilities

  • Support workshop design and facilitation to support effective information gathering, co-creation and solutioning activities
  • Design and facilitate workshops and interviews that include a variety of internal and external stakeholders across all levels
  • Manage stakeholder groups to develop partnerships with the business and foster a productive working environment
  • Work closely with end users, technical colleagues, Business Analysts and business teams to identify feasible, practical,cost-effective and actionable recommendations to identified problems in a succinct and human-centred way
  • Deliver and advocate for best practice service design methods and processes
  • Design and deliver service design artefacts and communication material including current and future state journey maps, service blueprints, customer segmentation, personas, reports, concepts, or prototyping

Skills & Experience

  • Experience as a UX Designer, Business Analyst, Service Designer or experience in Design/Strategy/Research
  • Proven ability to plan, facilitate and document user interviews to elicit high-level and detailed business problems and analysing root causes
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strategic service design
  • Thorough understanding of service design process & activities and significant experience in applying human-centred design thinking
  • Proven ability to work as part of a collaborative and highly motivated team
  • Proven ability to deliver in a project and program environment under limited guidance
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate between business and technical terminology
