Job Description

A government organisation is looking for an experienced Windows System Administrator. This is a 12-month contract with possible extension and is based at the fringe of Sydney CBD with the option of working from home.

The role is to work across all aspects of the server infrastructure environment. It is a technical role responsible for solution implementation, environment health and remote server management. This is also a technical escalation point and should be able to provide advice and instruction to service desk staff to see incidents through to their resolution.

Essential requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years technical experience with Windows Servers
  • Demonstrated experience working with iDRAC, OME, OMSA and other Dell server utilities
  • Strong working knowledge supporting Server 2016/2019, File, Printing, DHCP services
  • Strong proven experience in scripting for server administration using PowerShell
  • Previous working experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and concepts
  • Strong working knowledge of networking and VLAN configuration
  • Proven experience in the implementation of technical scaled solutions
  • Proven experience with Hyper-V and management of virtual machines
  • Ability to take guidance and direction without close supervision
  • Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and clearly articulating complex technical issues to peers and senior staff
  • Clear understanding of ITIL Change, Problem, and Incident Management frameworks
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Desirable requirements:

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and toolsets such as Jira
  • Experience working with ITSM tools such as Remedy
  • Experience working with configuration management toolsets
  • An interest in building automation and fixing problems at their source with scripting
